The long road to this website.

What is this website and where did it come from?

Well, about a year ago a friend of mine asked me for some help.... The Stitching group that she belonged to had a website but no one to maintain it.

The person that had setup the site had moved a while ago and the information on the site was close to two years out of date. Also, no one had checked the e-mails for about the same amount of time.

At the request of the group I contacted the server host of the website and got the IP and passwords for the website and e-mail.

Sorting through two years of span is a story for another time. But once I gained access to the old site the question was what to do with it.

The original site was written completely in HTML, which I had no experience with so I looked for programs in which I could design a quick webpage.

The first webpage (a website that consists of only one page) was put together in MS Word 2003. I can hear the shudder from web creators around the world!

The second incarnation of the site was  developed using MS Publisher 2003. This gave me the ability to have multiple pages with links between them.

Everything was going fine until about two months ago when the community based server host the website was on closed down. A vote was taken and the decision was made to find another host and register a domain.ca name for the group.

Now, a month of web searches and reviewing hosts brought me to the current server host. The services they offered, storage and download allocation, and the price was right!

So, ok how does all this tie into EdsWeb.ca.

Well, all the time working on and setting up the stitching website convinced me that maybe I had something to offer and share with others so I decided to set up a website of my own.

The question was..... what would it be about?
